LC Buddy: Real-Time Fuel Delivery Intelligence for the Modern Logistics Era

In today’s high-stakes fuel logistics landscape, speed, precision, and real-time visibility aren’t optional — they’re essential for staying competitive.
We created LC Buddy, short for Logistics Coordinator Buddy, to give dispatchers and coordinators a tool that mirrors how they actually work: fast, responsive, and focused on real-world performance.
Originally developed to solve our own day-to-day logistics challenges, LC Buddy has grown into a powerful, SaaS-ready platform tailored for fuel delivery operations. It helps logistics teams track, validate, and optimize fleet movements in real time and at scale.
The Problem: Route Plans vs. Real-World RealityTraditional route planning tools stop at optimization — they rarely confirm if drivers actually followed the plan, leaving critical blind spots in execution. This leads to blind spots in:
- Delivery accountability
- Real-time trip monitoring
- Identifying performance gaps
- Lack of real-time data integration
LC Buddy began as a web-based tool to bridge the gap between planned routes and real-world driver behavior and it quickly proved transformative. It was a game-changer but we didn’t stop there.
We evolved LC Buddy into a powerful logistics companion that made the original version valuable and supercharged it with:
- Advanced filtering (customers, ship-tos)
- Real-time trip monitoring
- Live route comparisons on dynamic maps
- Backend-powered analytics for lightning-fast insights
- Modern UI/UX built for speed and simplicity
1. Advanced Filters with Real-Time Search: Want to view all trips involving a specific customer, terminal, or region? Instantly drill down by customer, terminal, region, or trip stage. LC Buddy’s layered filters work in real time and sync seamlessly with the map.
In this example, a logistics coordinator queries all trips on March 1, 2025, without filtering for a specific customer — just using the date range and real-time stage toggle. This shows how LC Buddy can function with minimal filters or more refined ones, giving you full control over how you query your operational data.
Whether you're pinpointing stops related to a VIP client or validating performance for a specific region, our filters are built to work instantly and in sync with the map.
2. Real-Time Trip Tracking with Route Visuals: Planning is important — but knowing if that plan was followed is even more critical.
With LC Buddy, you don't just see where your driver went, you see how closely they followed the optimized route. LC Buddy doesn’t just show where your drivers are — it shows how closely they’re following the plan, with live route overlays and deviation alerts.
In the example above, the planned route (shown in red) closely aligns with the actual route taken (blue), confirming high execution accuracy. Only a minor deviation is visible near Stop 4, where the driver rerouted slightly before returning to the original track. This level of precision allows dispatch teams to validate performance in real time and not hours or days later.
The system maps every trip from terminal to yard to each customer stop. Hovering on any marker shows arrival/departure times, volume delivered, and other service-level details. Combined with map toggles and trip stage filters (planned, dispatcher-assigned, real-time-in-progress), you get full spatial and operational visibility down to the meter.
We let users toggle between multiple data layers:
- The planned route, as generated by our optimization logic.
- The real-time route, updated with actual GPS data.
- A trip stage filter that separates planned, dispatcher-assigned, or real-time-in-progress trips.
- Map views: Street or Satellite with all annotations preserved.
Example: Dispatch assigns the driver (Fernandes Marco) to cover 10 customer stops in West Toronto. Midway through the day, we notice a 10-minute delay at Stop 6 and a slight reroute after Stop 4. Instead of finding this out hours later in a report, LC Buddy shows it live on the map, with variance highlights and contextual trip notes visible in the side panel.
With this visibility, managers don’t need to dig through CSVs or wait for end-of-day reports. They can diagnose performance issues, address late deliveries in real-time, and verify if the driver followed the assigned route. It’s not just about where a truck is but also about why it’s there, and how it’s impacting your logistics chain.
3. Stop-Level Metrics with Actionable Insights: While the map gives a high-level view of where drivers are, the real power comes from what happens at each stop. LC Buddy breaks down trips into individual stops, with a detailed performance table for each route.
Every row in the table represents a terminal, customer, or transfer stop. For each, we track and display key metrics like:
- Time In / Time Out — When service actually began and ended
- Volume Delivered — Fuel amounts, broken down by product type (e.g. CL2, CD2)
- Distance — How far the stop is from the last location
- Time to Service (TTS) — How long the delivery took
- Liters per Minute (L/min) — A delivery rate metric that helps identify slowdowns
You also get contextual variance data: if the driver arrived later than expected, if the stop took longer than planned, or if the volume delivered deviated from the order. These are all color-coded for quick visual scanning.
Let’s take a closer look at a few more stops that reveal the system’s depth:
Stop 3 – Sunridge Routing Terminal (Claybank Rd):
This stop had a planned volume of 2,200 liters, but the driver delivered only 1,376 liters, resulting in a -37.5% underdelivery, clearly marked with a red-shaded cell. Despite the shortfall, the driver completed the stop with solid efficiency, a 13 L/min delivery rate and smooth timing. LC Buddy brings this to light immediately, so managers can follow up on missed volume without waiting for end-of-day reports.
Stop 7 – Crimson Haul Terminal (Redfern Blvd):
This is a great example of LC Buddy’s real-time-first approach. Even though this stop wasn't originally in the plan, the system still logs and visualizes the 2,218 liters delivered. Without LC Buddy, this stop would’ve gone unaccounted for — but here, it’s fully trackable with time stamps, distance, and delivery metrics included.
Stop 9 – Ironwood Refuel Station (Weston Rd):
This stop shows what perfect delivery looks like. Planned for 700 liters and delivered 871 liters (giving a +24.4% overdelivery), with a blazing-fast rate of 58.5 L/min. The stop was completed in just 15 minutes, showing how LC Buddy doesn't just help find problems , it also helps celebrate efficiency and consistency.
With this level of detail across every stop, LC Buddy enables logistics teams to make data-driven decisions on the fly and improve accountability, one delivery at a time.
4. Collaborative Notes Panel
Beyond metrics and maps, LC Buddy also supports detailed trip-level notes because not everything can be captured in numbers.
Each stop can include both planned and actual context, giving dispatchers, drivers, and managers a shared source of truth. For example, one note might record an unanswered call, while another could document WhatsApp follow-ups, GPS checks, or supervisor confirmations.
Every note is timestamped, attributed, and editable giving your team a shared, auditable log of what happened, when, and why. This allows users to collaborate live in the field while maintaining a traceable event log. You can even edit or append comments with your name and time via a one-click shortcut helping teams stay accountable and informed in fast-moving environments.
Whether you're tracking unresolved calls, field instructions, or route deviations, LC Buddy’s note panel ensures nothing gets lost in translation.
